The month of April gets its name from the Latin word aperio, meaning “to open [bud],” because plants really begin to grow now.
What's so special about April, not just because it's my birthday month. I got a revelation about the month of April and just want to share. April is a significant month and a lot of significant things in the bible also happened this month. Let's take a look at them.
The First Passover: On the evening of Nisan 14, the Hebrews in Egypt slaughtered their lambs, smeared blood on their doors, and feasted on Passover foods. 23:5 (Leviticus).
Crossing the Red Sea: On Nisan 21, 1312 BC, the Lord parted the Red Sea for the children of Israel, and they were able to do so on dry land. The army of Egypt was drowned when the sea waters flooded over them. Exodus 14. 21–30
Entry of Noah and Family into the Ark: According to Genesis, Noah and his family boarded the ark during this time. Gen. 7:1–5.
Manna: Scripture records that manna fell for the first time. Throughout the children of Israel's wanderings in the wilderness, manna would keep falling; it would only stop when they reached the Promised Land. Joshua 5:12 and Exodus 16:4-5
Palm Sunday: Palm Sunday is the Sunday preceding Easter on the Christian calendar. This commemorates the last time Jesus entered Jerusalem. The bible recall how people laid down clothing and branches on the road as Jesus approached Jerusalem. Matt. 21:8.
Good Friday is often referred to as Holy Friday or Great Friday on the Christian calendar.
Easter Sunday: Jesus rose from the dead after spending three days in the grave, defeating both death and the grave! We commemorate Jesus' resurrection today. He is risen! Mathew 28:6.
I was asked at work to speak about what Easter means to me and I told them this:
E- Embrace the love of Christ
A-Acknowledge he died on the cross and that
S-Savior- he is my Savior
T-Thankful- Thankful to God for this grace
E- Edify- improve my spirituality and personal relationship with Jesus.
R- Remembrance- Remember what Jesus did, for the rest of my life
Easter is not just a celebration it's who we are in Christ!
There were a lot more events, but I'll simply mention the most notable ones that everyone is aware of. This is a time to reflect on the fact that Jesus has freed us from our sins, something we should do every day of the year, not just on Easter. He gave his life in sacrifice so that we wouldn't have to give ours to the devil. Additionally, as April is a month for new beginnings, I pray we experience newness on our lives.
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
In conclusion, this is a time for Christians to celebrate the new things we are going to see happening in our lives. Let's praise the lord for he is risen!
However, I will put a short prayer for those who need Jesus in their lives and want to accept him as their lord and Saviour so you can also enjoy this newness and grace Christians have.
Let's Pray
Lord Jesus, I come to you today and ask that you forgive me my sins. I believe you died for me and on the 3rd day you rose again that I can be saved, and I accept you as my lord and personal Saviour. Thank you, Jesus, for saving me. I am now born again!
